How popularity is computed
Engagement events (views and search clicks) are recorded per agent with an anonymous session cookie. A 7-day window with per-event weights and exponential decay produces the popular ranking; agents under 48 hours old get a boost.
The beacon
Agent detail pages report one view per session. Repeated events from the same session inside five minutes are ignored, so one person cannot farm the ranking.
The sign-in gate
The public explore page is a partial view: popular and newest only. Search, filters, and the full catalog live behind sign-in - which is also where the ranking becomes useful for you personally.
